What is Crossfit?

  • Crossfit is a grassroots fitness movement based out of Santa Cruz, California. It is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.

Great article in the times a couple of days ago about the push to reduce salt in NYC.

Mid Hang Power Cleans. 5X3.
95,105,115,125,135X2.

My back was still really tired from yesterday, and it made me feel like a creaky old man. These were really hard for me.

Dave Molinari

Doing 'midhang power cleans' for a half an hour with poor mechanics kinda sucked, but I definitely think I was improving by the end. Shane, thanks for working me through it. I must remember-faster elbows.

Laurel

Midhang power cleans - 5X3 with 80lbs. Felt like I made a little progress with my form, but I'm still afraid of the movement and can't seem to shrug AND stomp AND get my elbows around all in one go... and my hook grip is weak. Grrrr.

Erik K.

155, 165, 170x1, 170x2, 170, 170x2

I kind of liked the accessory work, but not in a way in which the word "liked" applies at all.

Also, the double-under duel with Bryan is getting heated. After watching him narrowly miss topping my 61 consecutive double-unders, I managed to get 71, only for him to just miss minutes later with 70. This lit a little fire under me and I was able to raise the bar to 75, but I know he's out there... just waiting... like a cheetah... to pounce. It's kind of scary.

.DMG

still felt pretty wiped from filthy yesterday.

leg's still bugging me so stayed light on the MHPC working on form
135 145 135 135

accessory work was good as was the keg before class as was the dueling of the double under giants.

Brian

The Cheetah will have to wait till Monday.
The double under duel pre WOD totally blasted me for the Power Cleans. Plus I discovered that I am not back 100% from the food poisoning episode.

PC - 115/120/125/115/115
Felt awful. Scaled back and worked on stomping without donkey kicking.
tapped out of the accessory work.
Good luck with the cert everybody!

The weight felt easy, but stringing them together was pretty hard for me. I rarely get frustrated, but this one did it to me.

mid-hang pwr cleans

65; 70; 75; 82; 87(PR)
92x1 (PR?) I believe I could do this by 3 if I were a little angrier....

accessorrizzzaaation.

For dinner I ate a sampler plate of fats. Ok, there wasn't really a plate involved. There was a spoon. And my hands. Maybe a fork.

Lifting weights makes me ahungered. mmm.

Jeremy

" I believe I could do this by 3 if I were a little angrier.... "

Hmmmm..

I think I remember hearing some Warrior-Poet say something like "I find an inexhaustible supply of anger to be useful in lifting."

Christian

2nd foundations class, wod score was 9 for the push-up ladder.

I was thinking UP in my head but my arms stopped PUSHING! I seriously felt like they didn't belong to me after my 4th push-up on the attempt for 10. WEIRD!

Shane

Steph way to put up a serious PR. And the great news is that you had at least another 5 lbs in you. Awesome!

Foundationals, it was a pleasure meeting you all and I look forward to seeing you all again next Thursday!

Bethany

Mid hang power cleans:
72/77/82/87(pr)/90

Good luck with the cert y'all!

stephanie

mhpcx3

80,90,100,105,115(PR)

felt good, thanks for the coaching shane and adrian.

Adam P

Second foundation class. Made it to 7 on push-up ladder. Bruised clavicle seems to be happier 4 days out from bruising.

Matt U.

Foundations #2: 9 on the push-up ladder. Still looking forward to WODs that are a little more sadistic.
